Leave update

Well my leave has been great so far and I have done a number of things that I had hoped to do. I guess the biggest problem with leave is going through more cash than you would in a normal working week... which leaves me close to using my fortnightly cash reserves. As I hate credit card debt some of the stuff I wanted to do over the break may have to be curtailed.

So far this leave period I have:

1) Painted the wall with the cracking (poorly and I ran out of paint...but it was painted)
2) de-headed the flowers a certain someone kept reminding me
3) had a hit of golf (dropped my golf bag and broke two clubs but such is life I guess)
4) cleaned the oven (yes this was my idea)
5) Gone to find electric blankets and finally use the last of our vouchers (they didn't have any but I still did it)
6) Poisoned the weeds in the front of the garden. I think I will need more poison as they haven't all died but its a start....
7) Contacted Mutual community, its already the middle of August and no tax statement. I expect to see something soon.
8) Cleaned the inside of both cars, this was more difficult than originally anticipated but it was done.
9) Cooked a roast with the Webber. This was freaking awesome and I still have some left over lamb for lunch tomorrow. There is something unique about charcoal cooked meat (sorry to any vegan reading this but your missing out except perhaps the charcoal cooked pumpkin which was also quite nice)
10)How could I forget the ironing.... my gosh! it took my about 6 hrs to finish all the ironing that we had, I admit it was my idea, I just kept mentioning that "I'll do the ironing on my leave break" so lets be honest why do it now when you can do it later. Argh

So that doesn't seem like much for 6 days off but I have also seen people driven Diana around the city and also relaxed which is the whole point of leave in the first place. The sad thing is that I have a number of things to do before leave finishes... these things will obviously be now subject to finance.

1) Fix the leaking toilet. Being 6 billion years old I'm not sure how to do this as I've already replaced the "replaceable parts" and I refuse to get a whole new cistern.
2) fix and paint the gate/fence - once again, no idea what I'm doing here but it seems like a great idea.
3) carpet clean the house - this one, is something I want to do, but we shall see.
4) XXXX X XXX XXX - I'm currently in the process of doing this but I won't mention what it is in case the Russians are reading.
5) go fishing - that's right Sean, I don't forget.

So that's probably the longest post I'll ever write that no one will ever read. But we shall see one day I might be considered some sort of important person and these writing will be used as a guide for everyday life. In the year 3050 everyone will have nice fences and clean carpets!

Leave is on

Well I'm taking 2 weeks off work to get a whole heap of things done.

I've got more things to do than I've realised I'm going to put a list up that I want to do. Yesterday I spent 6 hr ironing, luckily I have a DVD of the Family Guy and American Dad to get me through.

I'm now off to go shop!

such a long time between posts

Well I haven't forgotten about the blog, I just haven't really had anything to say.

I'm due for 2 weeks leave and I have a massive list of things to do. I look forward to writing them here and seeing if I manage to get them all done.

I've also managed to get myself feeling ill for a weekend, I really hate that kind of thing.Weekends are meant to be for enjoying yourself not feeling unwell.

Why do things take so bloody long

I can never work out why so many things happen so quickly but the things you really want always take along time to occur.
Anyway its been a long time since I blogged I haven't set any goals and I haven't achieved any goals. I wouldn't say I have wasted the time however as I have had some cracker weekends, weekdays have been uniformally terrible but I guess that's why we have to wait for all the good thing to happen.

Hopefully something more exciting than the weekends will happen soon.

Yay I cooked something

Well I finally managed to get the oven to cook something without either severely burning it or leaving it raw in the middle. Whilst it was a packet cake and lacked flavour it at least was edible.

I also bought 2 books today one fiction and one non fiction. The non fiction book being "a Clockwork Orange" which so far is quite difficult to read so hopefully the non-fiction book Black Swan is a bit easier.

I haven't blogged for a while either not because I haven't had much to say it's just that I've been doing things which require recovery time including excellent weekends having the opportunity to remain in the same city for multiple weekends has been a blessing (I do enjoy go back to the Riverland however so don't get me wrong).

I suppose I should also mention that we lost the 2nd test in a very very average display of cricket. I can't even hide the loss with the Crows because they managed to lose as well.

The best part of this blog is knowing I am 9 working days away from taking 2 weeks leave!

Cricket

Whilst i am a massive fan of cricket, watching the current test team reminds me of watching the Redbacks since 1994. Glimpses of talent followed my hours of mediocre cricket.

I'm struggling to work out some short term goals at the moment. I still haven't done the wine course I wanted to, learning a language is probably still out of the question (i'm now thinking mandarin).

The most urgent short term goal is getting a new job, one that provides a real challenge and the ability to learn and develop instead of doing tasks and having to deal with selfishness.

Opportunities but at what cost

Life is a series of opportunities, some minor and some major. Whilst some people tend to dwell on missed opportunities as opportunities lost, should we just see them as an opportunity not taken because another was more important or the cost was too high for it to be taken?

When faced with the opportunity of a life time, some people take it some people don't. The results can be varied life; long regrets or other opportunities taken. A once in a life time opportunity doesn't always yield positive results, whilst in 10 years time we will dismiss our experience as just that... experience, was it one that had to happen? When looked at in daylight wrong decisions are wrong decisions regardless of the experienced gain especially if by all other measures is a wrong move.

The most difficult part of calling a wrong decision a wrong decision before it has been made is the realisation that it is a once in a life time opportunity never again will it occur or come close to occurring, luckily there will be other opportunities and looking back you can see that there is nothing to regret because the right decision was made regardless of the opportunity that presented it self. People often forget the expensive costs involved which would be utilised on things which are much more important than a whim or a chance opportunity and I'm not just talking money.

As they say, when one door closes another opens. It may not be the once in a lifetime opportunity but it may be one that gives much more than a once in a lifetime opportunity could ever offer.
